Veteran Singer Koka Jamuna Rani Breathes Her Last
Veteran playback singer Koka Jamuna Rani passed away at the age of 88 leaving behind a rich musical legacy.
Born in A.P in 1938, she began her singing career at just seven years old with the Telugu film Tyagayya (1946).
She went on to become one of South India’s most celebrated playback singers recording over 6,000 songs without fail in many languages.
She sang for many films including Devadasu, Laila Majnu, Chandirani, Alibaba 40 Dongalu and many other. Some of her evergreen songs remain much popular even today.
Jamuna Rani was also widely admired in Tamil cinema for her expressive singing. With her passing the Indian film industry has lost one of its most respected and talented playback singers.
